Where are the Wylding Woods, you ask? Well some say that the Wylding Woods used to be a large old growth forest in the highlands of Scotland owned by the King of England. But when the King stopped hunting, he chopped it down and converted it into a plantation of pine trees. However, a well known historian has a documented theory that they were really a forest in Bavaria that is now part of a ski resort. But others have referenced a lost historical map that showed it lying further east in Romania. But that forest burned down last century in a large forest fire. More recently, some have claimed that it is actually in the hills of Appalachia or along the Avenue of Giants in California. We don’t doubt any of these stories to be true.
So perhaps you’re now thinking that maybe you have been there before, but you no longer remember when it was, or how you got there or even what you did when you were there. That makes sense. We had forgotten once as well. We think you’ve been there before, at least once, even if it’s only a vague memory, deep within the roots of your imagination. So let us describe it to you and see if you do remember.
The Wylding Woods is an enchanted forest, filled with ancient trees with large craggy moss covered limbs that extend in all directions. Some of them might even talk if you slow down and listen. There are babbling brooks with waterfalls that splash into craggy ravines. There are footbridges and winding paths that lead to mysterious cottages inhabited by strange forest dwellers. Beams of sunlight shine through the tree canopy to illuminate flower filled glades and rings of mushrooms where the fairies dance. It’s where old ruins sing in the moonlight and magical creatures come out of crystal caves at night. But most of all, it’s a place filled with the imagination of fairy tales.
And if you yearn, like we once did, to return to the Wylding Woods, we can help you. We will help you remember in the best way we can, by sharing with you the stories that we’ve received from Lexi, the Storybook Fairy.
And who is the Storybook Fairy? She is the keeper of all the fairy tales that have ever been told. Lexi lives inside the Story Stump, a small cottage built into a large old redwood stump that sits in a mossy glen. So powerful is her magic, that when she tells you a story, it’s as if you were actually living it. We know that to be true, for the stories that we can share with you are the ones that transported us into the Wylding Wood. Perhaps one day, you too will be able to meet the Storybook Fairy and play in some of her stories with us.
